Work continues on the pedestal. The EFIS-cockpit pedestal is almost finished as shown below. The centre of the pedestal needs blanking plates, the ADF2 unit awaits me deciding how to work with the ADFs - it doesn't look like IXEG allow NDB frequencies over 999, so I may revert to default X-Plane coding. The non-EFIS cockpit aircraft have a narrower 2-bay pedestal as fitted to the 737-200, and I'll get that modeled once this is finished.

Today's graphics challenge was making the image for the CDU. I've been experimenting with different finishes for the keys, the final version will have a more uniform look. Then the screen needs to be formatted, it's functional, and the CDUs are usable, but some on-screen elements need to be covered by graphics rather than straight text - in the end result you won't know which is which! [EDIT] After finding my "new" trove of 737 Classic cockpit photos I've 90% reworked the CDU image, and this is the graphic I'll be using for release.

Searching through one of my drives I've found a load of cockpit photos off a -400. About a hundred high res pictures of the whole cockpit from 9 or 10 years ago. I've sold quite a few Classics over the years and have a lot of photos, but normally they're just wide overviews. These however are some great close-ups. I think Photoshop will get hammered over the next couple of weeks. Here are some clips of the zoom-ins.

First up then with a bit of a graphics update is the MCP. The display test is static at the moment; it needs to be made to flash on and off, but that'll come later when I get round to the final stretch of coding for the IXEG. The first screenshots of the aircraft in XP12 have been released, so I'm looking forward to running the IXEG with these panels in the new sim. An afternoon's work here, it's quite fun working out how best to add all the little details into each panel.

Hi - how's it going with the XP11 version of the IXEG 733? I have a fixed base sim cockpit based on the IXEG - using Extexture extractor for thr EADI and HSI, but a hotchpotch of other Air Manager gauges for the rest of the MIP. I've only just come across your site and YouTube channel. Are you continuing with the Xplane 11 version of the 733?
Thanks,
Roger.

Hi Roger, thanks for the message.
Essentially the cockpit is complete, provided XTexture Extractor is used for the EFIS screens - the Getting Close thread shows the cockpit pretty much as it is, although I am making improvements as I speak. The non-EFIS panel needs the Instrument Comparator to be coded, which won't take me long to do, and I need to figure the best way to tie the HSI into the FMC to provide LNAV info - I have a few ideas, just haven't got around to it as I've been doing so much work on the 737-200 which has just had a massive upgrade. HOWEVER, I'm not happy with XTextureExtractor, as I think the imagery is blurry - that might be my system and mixing screen resolutions(?), and if you're getting good results I'd be grateful for advice. So I have been waiting until the XP12 release, as there should be a workaround with Air Manager 4.2 so I can get the whole cockpit running completely in Air Manager.
My hunch is that there will be minimal if any changes to custom internal IXEG datarefs, in which case there will be compatibility between my panels and XP11 and XP12 EXCEPT for display of the EFIS screens. The only issues I've seen with XP11 code in XP12 is annunciator brightness under certain night lighting conditions, but the XP12 fix I put in on the 747-200 still worked in XP11.
I believe that IXEG are in the final stages before they release the XP12 update. I'm on vacation for a week middle of September, so my guess is they'll release 1 or 2 days before I go away!!! In the meantime I am now getting everything packaged up and making some more graphical improvements so I'm ready to release this as quickly after XP12 comes out as I can.
I hope that helps. In a nutshell I won't be developing specifically for XP11, but there should be minimal issues between the platforms. I'm interested to hear more about your sim....
All the best Jon

Modelling the non-EFIS version of the 737-300 is coming along nicely. Those early aircraft really are like flying a re-engined 737-200Adv. The Captain's panel has been completely rebuilt (images to follow soon) and now the ADI and HSI are left. For now I will not pester IXEG for FMC output datarefs (they must have everything calculated internally) and I'm going to work on trying to derive the required data myself. Let's see if I can make this work, here are my scribbles with the initial "to-do" list, it's 100% certain that this will fill both sides of the paper before I'm finished. If/when the IXEG datarefs become available it should be simple to switch over but in the meantime fingers crossed this works!

I have a working version! As there's now a release date set for the XP12 compliant IXEG 733 I'll shift to the "Getting Close" thread here..
